XDUoo XD05PRO

I tried reversing USB-C adapter 180° and reconnecting it to XD05PRO usb-c port, and I have got a little different sound with each side of adapter connected in opposite way. That can sound like "mad man's concussions", but these are my subjective findings that I have checked several times when tested to be sure I'm not going mad 😂
Entirely bonkers! :smile_cat:

Ok, today I have tested "ifi iPower X 12V 2A" (109€) vs my inexpensive regular DC power supply 12V 2A (9€) with XD05PRO.

1. Did I hear a difference? If there was a difference, it was so minor, that you have to analyze very closely when listening with the same track, to hear these differences.

2. Is it worth the price and is it worth to upgrade from regular inexpensive DC power supply? In my case with XD05PRO it was absolutely not worth 10 times price difference from my regular 12V DC power supply and I did not hear clearly audible improvements in sound, so this iFi Power Supply is going back to store :)

Next thing that I would like to know: does linear Power Supply going to make any audible changes in SQ with XD05PRO? 🤔

Hope that someone will test that 😁

Thank you for this, and yes I am really looking forward to see anyone's impressions on the SQ of the XD05 Pro with a linear power supply because I am contemplating on ordering the ifi ipower x or the Fiio PL50 lps. And I hope these impressions will come soon because it's itching me 😁

I would have been really surprised that switching power supply would influence the sound very much. The XD05 is battery driven, to my understanding they just implemented a mechanism that can charge the battery while using it. The power always comes from the battery, not the external power supply. My Woo WA8 works like that also.

I received a list of filters from xduoo support. I don’t believe that their engineers were able to redo not only the order, but also return the old filters to the 9039pro. most likely the support was given old data, from the time when they wanted to release xd05pro with 9038pro (yes, in the table it is listed as 9039, but we all saw its datasheet, there are other filters there already, one of the pluses of the new DAC lol), and by ear you can hear the difference (slows are less sharp). but according to AKM, I see they gave a list of 7 (as in the menu with the AKM module), when on the AKM website there are 6 of them, it seems to be true, but how? Is it really possible to change these parameters in DACs?

In xd05 bal2 you can physically disconnect the battery and the amplifier will still work in ext mode. I'm sure it's similar in the xd05 pro (in the bal2, a very noticeable noise is created when using a basic 5v charger).

I don't think so, because I have been using XD05PRO several hours in EXT mode, while battery left about 40%. So after several hours of using in EXT mode the battery still indicates about 40%. This mean that battery is not being charged while using EXT mode.

However, the support turned out to be useful, filters 5 and 6 were duplicated in AKM, ess - a false table from 9038.

The Xd05 Pro does not charge or use the battery in DC (EXT) mode.

I don't want to duplicate posts, because I wrote about it before, but I wasn't sure. Describing LPS and 05 pro is not an easy task. I have a Chinese LPS 12V 80W https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002956680385.html talema option. I bought it specifically for the 05 pro. I'm still waiting for such a 12V 5A USB C cable https://www.aliexpress.com/item/100....order_list.order_list_main.35.3a5a18027Z8CRt Now I'm using a standard GX16 2pin/DC + dc5.5x21 USB C cable adapter. Is SQ better? Yes. It is a fuller, more dynamic and spacious sound. Is this a noticeable change? Of course NO, in relation to, for example, replacing opamps, this is not a change that affects the scene, detail, timbre, layering, stereophony, etc. So what is the point - the overall appearance is simply clearer, it is as if you added 0.5dB not to overall volume level, but to individual sounds, and thus the sounds are fuller and better separated from each other. I hope this makes some sense... Especially the bass line when it comes to my headphones. Once you are aware of such a change, it is very difficult to return to the charger. If I had to decide again, with my current knowledge, I would buy LPS again. I use 4 ESS filter. I think that the manufacturer's description, although quite general, is justified:

P.S.
It is definitely better not to use LPS for charging because it heats up very quickly. In ext mode it remains cold. I'm very curious about other opinions.

Ho that’s interesting then. If it’s the external PS that feeds it, it also means possibility of highly noticeable audio gain from using a high quality PS.
