Anyone tried opa1656?
I tried opa1656. Nothing special. Very subtle difference from opa1612. opa1656 sounds a tad warmer.

It doesn't fit if you want to close the door. It's too wide. You need the extension legs and stand it up on the door. Right now I prefer to leave the door open because I can swap opamps easily.

I also tested the OPA627 and OPA828. Those 2 are inferior, The 627 is worse than the stock. It does have a wider stage, but the definition is very poor and the top end sounds more distorted than airy. Like a cheap amp basically. The 828 is not much better. Maybe I am spoiled by the SS3602 and Trulis HA8802. Those two are very good and have different sound signatures.

I am not sure if the MK9 is worth the money. It does improve the sonics, but the change is very subtle, only on the top end. If you AB. It's there. If you must squeeze out the last few percent of the SS3602 and HA8802. These will do that. If not, save the cash.

Thanks so much for your help.
Also do you think Burson V5iD pair well with Ufeel MK8 buffer (the smaller one)?

Sorry, I don't have the Burson chips. I think it's someone else. I am thinking of getting the V6 from Sam Audio. I ordered the MK8, but it's not here yet. Should be getting it over the next 2 days.

Finally got my V7 Classic. So did a brief run between HA8802A, SS2590 and V7 Classic.
Using ROHM card and HD800s.

To my surprise, I enjoy HA8802A + ROHM the most. Yonme it sounds like "music", and it is easy for my brain with the music flow naturally. I can listen to my files the whole day without feeling any fatigue.

V7C + ROHM sounds similar to 8802A, but better in the sound stage and clarity. I am sure somebody would love this type of sound signature, but I do feel a bit tired after an hour of listening.
20240430_172503.jpg

SS2590 + ROHM has a smaller soundstage compared to V7C, but to me the main issue is I feel overwhelmed by the details. Sounds like too much details may not be my preference. I reckon the 2590 is excellent if your intention is to test your IEM / HP, and want to hear all the minor details and expect some "new details" which you never heard before. But I feel it s too much, and I cannot last more than 20-30 mins of listening.
20240430_173358.jpg

Think it s still a preference issue here. We all hear things differently, something even within a day or two. So guess there is no particular winner between the three. Any one of them can make you feel satisfied depending on your mood or mindset.

Will try to see if my comment will change when I try the ESS / AKM card, and other HP or IEM combination.

Thanks mate. That was very helpful. It appears Sparkos opamps tend to have smaller staging. I like the HA8802 very much too, tuby in a good way, very musical. I was just looking at the V7C, considering the cost. I already have the SS3602 and HA8802. Not sure if it's worth spending on.

Think if u want a transportable unit, better just stay at 3602 & 8802, at least u can close the cover and bring the 05Pro out to enjoy.

If I have to make a choice, and don't mind to use the amp only indoors, I will pick V7C over 2590. Think if I can hear V7C a bit better than 8802A, and it is not that overwhelming vs. 2590.

Of.course, YMMV.

My XD05 Pro is 99% on my desk and hooked to an iMac. The 8802 just by itself is very good and I'll be happy if it's the only opamp I use. The only complaint I have is that the 8802 rounds off the bass thumps a bit.

I noticed you're also in SG. If you want to get rid of the V7C, let me know. I am curious since I like open and airy.

Agreed that ROHM DAC with HA8802 is damn good especially listening to female vocals!

I believe that this can be fitted into XD-05 Pro with door closed, but I wonder how this small device can declare the performance of FM255 machine? And who knows how good the FM255 is? Guess one has to pay the price to know.
what price you have seen on Taobao, I can only see it starting at $260 china Yen.

On Taobao it’s listed as JPY 260 which translates to €1.5 ?
On AliExpress it’s €170 lmao
