I've not heard the Bursons to comment but definitely more dynamic and fine detailed than the ad827sq and lme49990 opamps I had on hand. It has a sense of realism and thereness that the IC's couldn't match.

No don't buy

XD-05 pro is very huge and not portable. Search Google for pics and you will see how big it is. If you want a powerful portable amp with Bluetooth get the Topping G5. On sale it's down at 250 usd/euro. It's the best versatile amp at the moment.

Wait a couple of months and get the XD-05 pro. It will probably be excellent as a desktop device.

That's correct. You can charge the XD-05 BAL from an external power supply whilst the USB-C input is connected to a laptop, but a laptop output won't charge the device. The battery life is very good though so I don't know how much of an issue that would be to you.
