Can anyone who's heard both the Colorfly C3 and the xDuoo x3 give some comparisons between the two?

Most likely due to the fall in the Chinese economy over the past few weeks - not so good for the Chinese - good for budget-conscious audiophiles...

You're absolutely right.... I'm distracted watching the Panthers routing Seattle while also online.  The obvious went right over my head!

Guess I need to look to see if some nice IEMs have also plummeted in price :)

H20Fidelity has the X3 and the C3 and if I remember correctly the C3 has an clunky UI and for the price the X3 was better. Hopefully he is still on this thread and can answer

I honestly don't care that much about UI so I"m just looking to get the most sound quality out of a DAP. I can get the Colorfly for a little bit more than $40 USD, so I don't know if I should jump on or get the X3. In terms of SQ, how do they compare?

Don't know personally about the Colorfly but elsewhere in this thread the X3's sound quality was very favorably compared (as in better)  to more expensive FiiO DAPs.  Given that, I'd opine that the X3 versus the Colorfly would be a no contest.

AudioNewbi3,

Can't comment as I don't use subfolders and all my files are FLAC.  Are you running firmware v1.0 or v1.1?

Tomtop has the X3 for $73.99!

Well, they are different - c3 is brighter and clearer with better separation as the x3 fills the space between the instruments with a bit of warmth; x3 is warmer and smoother and has better texture and microdetails but presents them in a more polite manner. X3 is also superior in layering

After some days, of continous listen. I am enjoying X3 as a source with FiiO e12 fed to my AKG K551. The inbuilt amp can drive my headphones, but I found lineout + E12 was a far better combination. There is more "body" to vocals and instruments as if they were bigger! Also, the soundstage is even wider.

Hmm, interesting......

Does anyone else share this impression?

I used to have the E12 and found it lacking in soundstage compared to the Cayin C5 to the extent that I sold it. I wouldn't like a DAP with even more closed in presentation.

I'm not trying to be rude or talking anything down but I'm really interested in the X3 and I'm genuinely interested in more opinions about this.
