xDSD Gryphon: birth of a ‘head-fi’ legend

@iFi audio Any update on the "Desktop mode" yet ?
I have enough portable DACs and DAPs including the Go Blu. I would buy the xDSD if it had a desktop mode. My past experience using portable DACs always connected to power and charging hasn't been very good.

We're aware that folks here would like to have this utility, so we're looking into making this possible but no updates yet. Sorry!

My original micro iDSD became a brick because I shelved it for three months, and then the battery wouldn't hold a charge when I decided to use it again. I couldn't use it at all even when directly plugged into a power source. I would buy the Gryphon in an instant if it weren't entirely reliant on the battery.

I'm sorry to hear that, it shouldn't die after not using it for two or three months. Let me ask though, is it still under warranty? If not, then our support team could try helping you out by suggesting some measures to revive the product here: https://support.ifi-audio.com

Gryphon just came in today. Sounds superb and drives hd800s and lcd 4z very well with plenty of room to spare

Very cool, thanks! Since we're suckers for photos with our stuff on them, would you kindly show your setup please :) ?

Hi folks,

I am currently working with our team to get our site updated reflected correctly, but you actually can update from all iOS platforms now.

Keep in mind the differences in process between the Bluetooth and 1.22 firmware updates.

The 1.22 update is done on your PC/Mac through our DFU application (Please let me know if you need the DMG file, it will also be available soon on the site otherwise)!

*If this is your first time using Gaia for the BT update, keep in mind you must NOT be connected to your phone with the Gryphon with your phone. You must connect to the Gryphon through the app itself, otherwise it will not pick the Gryphon up.

Hi!
Just wanted to ask if there is compatibility issue of the Gaia app on Android? I've tried to use the app on an Xperia 1iii, and on an LG V60 with no success. I made sure that the Gryphon and the phones were not connected, and let the Gryphon in pairing mode. However in the app, it gets stuck on circular searching animation forever. Even if you move to the bonded devices section, the circular animation continues on the app. The app just searches and searches forever even thought the Gryphon is right next to the phone.
Should I try the app process on an older device with an older android system? Maybe a samsung device will work better?
(My Gryphon is currently on the latest 1.22 firmware, but the Play/Pause/FW/RW functions do not work while connected through BT on my Android phones.)
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

When I first got my unit, it took me 2 or 3 tries to make the Gaia app found my Gryphon

Does anyone have their Gryphon display "-2CdB" instead of the actual value?

I have a Samsung, S10+ to be exact.

Can you try to pair your phone with the Gryphon first? After pairing, just disconnect the Gryphon and open Gaia to have it search for the device again. That's what I have done to get Gaia to connect with mine.
Yes I've tried that several times. I have also tried deleting the Gryphon from my BT connections like if it was a new device and search that way when the Gryphon is trying to pair and no luck.

But i have an old samsung phone my kids use. I'll try with that phone as well. Maybe i will have better luck with that one.

Hello, my current setup is a Denon 7200 or InEar Prophile 8s (here commonly known as PP8s), mostly driven by a Dragonfly Red either on PC at home or Macbook at work with Apple Music. So I wanted to upgrade with a gryphon, but I'm asking myself, if the Gryphon will be that much of a change to listen to when you aren't using the Xspace or XBass features. Or, as many are comparing it, would a micro iDsd signature or even a stationary DAC/amp like the hyped k9 pro be a significant change? (Musically, it's a to taste and mood everthing but hip hop and techno, mostly classical, metal or prog rock)

Thanks for the help! I tried the app on my kids' S9+ and it worked on the first try lol. I guess the app hasn't been optimized for newer versions of android and different phones.

And about your image, i haven't seen that at all. Hopefully someone else replies soon.

I've got a Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and had no issue whatsoever updating firmware and/or connecting to mine - worked fine first time.

My S10+ uses Android 12, the latest version of Android so I don't think Gaia has anything to do with the newer Android version. But I can say the way it works is inconsistent, sometimes I can connect on the first try, other times it takes the second try to work :frowning2:
