Touche, the most important factor, pricing.

I already am set on the console I want, so price doesn't really matter to me. But I'm sure that it affects the masses.

I speculate that the PS4 will be about 20% more expensive than the One. $600 vs. $500 perhaps?

That was my original thought too, but I think the consoles are going to be closer to $400.

The Michael Pachter joke believe PS4 will be 350$ in the US and the Xbox One 399$. Of course this will be inaccurate to the max. MS do have yield problem on it´s ESRAM which may make it a bit more expensive then the original plan.

Lets see which one truly is better quality in the build quality. I'm just waiting to see the next Red Ring Of Death to appear after a few months of release... or something worse * evil laugh* * Starts up a PC game*

Isn't the Kinect significantly more advanced than the PS4's camera thing as well? Remember you're paying for that stuff too.

It would be nice to see them both around the $400 mark but I'm not getting my hopes up.

PS 4 has more expensive DDR 5 memory and a more advanced GPU which cost money. But according to Pachter the Xbox One is more expensive. Will be for sure if they don´t get better yields on the ESRAM.

As for game library I think PS3 won big here over Xbox 360. Gear of Wars, Halo, Forza against Uncharted, The Last for Us, heavy rain, little big planet, metal gear solid, god of war etc but this is of course hugely subjective :)

Still not liking. Why can´t we just disconnect Kinect and never touch the thing??? Are they afraid of a used market for Kinect?

  1. You are in control of what Kinect can see and hear: By design, you will determine how responsive and personalized your Xbox One is to you and your family during setup. The system will navigate you through key privacy options, like automatic or manual sign in, privacy settings, and clear notifications about how data is used. When Xbox One is on and you’re simply having a conversation in your living room, your conversation is not being recorded or uploaded.
  2. You are in control of when Kinect sensing is On, Off or Paused: If you don’t want the Kinect sensor on while playing games or enjoying your entertainment, you can pause Kinect. To turn off your Xbox One, just say “Xbox Off.” When the system is off, it’s only listening for the single voice command -- “Xbox On,” and you can even turn that feature off too. Some apps and games may require Kinect functionality to operate, so you’ll need to turn it back on for these experiences.
  3. You are in control of your personal data: You can play games or enjoy applications that use data, such as videos, photos, facial expressions, heart rate and more, but this data will not leave your Xbox One without your explicit permission. Here are a few examples of potential future scenarios:
    1. A fitness game could measure heart rate data to provide you with improved feedback on your workout, allow you to track your progress, or even measure calories burned.
    2. A card game could allow you to bluff your virtual opponent using your facial expressions.

  1. You can use other inputs to control your games, TV and entertainment experiences: While it’s faster to find what you’re looking for using your voice and gesture commands with Kinect, you can use a controller, your remote controls or your smart devices instead. And you can use all of these devices when Kinect is paused.

We’ll have more information available as we get closer to product availability later this year.

And they are killing the used game market which is another negative.

  1. Buy the way you want—disc or digital—on the same day: You’ll be able to buy disc-based games at traditional retailers or online through Xbox Live, on day of release. Discs will continue to be a great way to install your games quickly.
  2. Access your entire games library from any Xbox One—no discs required: After signing in and installing, you can play any of your games from any Xbox One because a digital copy of your game is stored on your console and in the cloud. So, for example, while you are logged in at your friend’s house, you can play your games.
  3. Share access to your games with everyone inside your home: Your friends and family, your guests and acquaintances get unlimited access to all of your games. Anyone can play your games on your console--regardless of whether you are logged in or their relationship to you.
  4. Give your family access to your entire games library anytime, anywhere: Xbox One will enable new forms of access for families. Up to ten members of your family can log in and play from your shared games library on any Xbox One. Just like today, a family member can play your copy of Forza Motorsport at a friend’s house. Only now, they will see not just Forza, but all of your shared games. You can always play your games, and any one of your family members can be playing from your shared library at a given time.
  5. Trade-in and resell your disc-based games: Today, some gamers choose to sell their old disc-based games back for cash and credit. We designed Xbox One so game publishers can enable you to trade in your games at participating retailers. Microsoft does not charge a platform fee to retailers, publishers, or consumers for enabling transfer of these games.
  6. Give your games to friends: Xbox One is designed so game publishers can enable you to give your disc-based games to your friends. There are no fees charged as part of these transfers. There are two requirements: you can only give them to people who have been on your friends list for at least 30 days and each game can only be given once.

Spot on regarding the "next gen consoles" as always.

At this point I feel it´s totally morally wrong to get the Xbox One. Will see with PS 4 if also Sony manage to make it more or less impossible to buy...
And Wii U when the only thing going for Wii was it´s controls no... I have done mario and Zelda and all that now I don´t need to play every new version even if they are great :)
3rd party support will probably be even more abysmal then ever.

I was sort of disappointed after dealing with all the build up to the reveal. I don't know what I was expecting, but I guess whatever it was was a little bit more than what they showed. Also not too crazy about the price. I'll probably wait until they decrease to check this out.

E3 was games, games, games, games, games, games, games, games, games, games, games, games, games, games, games, games, games, games, games, games :)

Not enough though PS 4 had open goal and they took well advantage of it.

Superior hardware
lower price
no drm hazzle
no eye toy requirement

pros for the Xbox One is easy to count
more ergonomic gamepad for the looks of it
However the PS4 gamepad do seem thicker so hopefully it will work a bit better with my big hands.
.........

On top of it all despite the game explosion none of the Xbox One truly caught my interest straight away. FM 5 of course but I am not buying a new wheel and console to play that game. Mirrors Edge 2 but luckily for me that is multi platform.
