Just saw it...pretty disappointed overall, mostly flash with no meat and potatoes to the movie. Not to mention they completely Hollywooded the story. Phoenix wasn't nearly flashy enough either, considering everytime she made an entrance in the comic she would be showing off a flaming firebird one way or another. Can't believe there wasn't a single scene showing that.

just saw it as well...and i'm in the disappointed camp. phoenix is probably my favorite character from the comic series and i hated how she was basically portrayed as dark phoenix without spending any time in the phoenix role...when she killed the professor his last words gave you the impression that she was somehow going to learn how to control her powers...i thought it was a poignant moment, when everything was going in slo-mo...but no, it really meant nothing...phoenix WAS able to control her powers, with the aid of the professor, but we did not see this...
X2 was way better...kitty pryde was a cutie, though...and the battle at the end was entertaining...wait for the DVD

cute but 5 feet of height at age of 19 seems a bit short.
She does have a face of a 15 year old.

Being short in Hollywood means you get pigeonholed. See Mena Suvari for a good illustration of this principle. The Hard Candy trailer is available on the Apple Quicktime site, she actually gets to exercise her acting skills in that movie, but be forewarned, it is not for the faint of heart:

do yourself a favor and do NOT go see hard candy if you like her. It was a really bad movie and me and my gf left it wanting to murder Kitty Pride.

Spoiler*In the beginning of the movie, we see Prof X in a class and he shows a tape of Dr. Moira MacTaggert and a comatose patient. In the end, it shows the doctor checking up on the patient. The patient goes, "Hello, Moira" ... Surprised, the doctor replies, "Charles?"

some things that bothered me about the film...
Halle is not a very convincing storm character. She also does not portray the tough and dangerous type in xmen.
kitty was miscasted IMO. The girl playing kitty and the whole relationship thing growing between her and bobby was awkward and disturbing. The incredibly large age difference between actor and actress is just too much to not notice.
there are very large lulls in the beginning of the film that serve nothing to the story but is used to hit the 90 minute mark on the film. the scenes were pointless and some were obviously srawn longer than they shouldve been to eat up the time.
scene transitions and character development along with story development was too disjointed.
some good things I like about the film..
kelsie grammer (sp?) did an incredible job as beast. Not sure if it was him or a stunt double in the end. But the movements and actions of beast in the final fight was spectacular. His acting in the film, even when covered with blue make up, shined through very convincingly.
Magneto also did a stupendous job in the film. Along with juggernaut adding a fresh relief to monotony playing as the comic relief of the film.
BTW: was the asian purple haired girl supposed to be psylocke?

A minute or two after I heard his voice I thought Dr. Frasier Crane. Yes, it was Kelsey Grammer. I think most of his fight sequences were CGI.
But I think he did a pretty good job, considering I really didn't care for the movie.

there was one action where hes talking to wolverine, and then jumps forward, I was taken a back, by the body motions.. 1 moment his calm, then as he does a lunge its totally convincing. Im wierd like that.. I noticed his arm gestures and such and thought that it was kick ass. I wouldnt be surprised if his twirling and such was cg. But i didnt even consider it until you brought it up. It looked so real to me! than I suppose hollywood is seriously advancing nowadays modeling actors. Much better than the crap shoot models used in matrix 2 and 3 where the cg actors were blatant.

I bet it is a combo of both CGI and live action and then edited together so it looks as one complete streamline sequence of action.
By the way, are you coming to the So. Cal Meet in August?

I knew right from the beginning the movie was going to be all flash no substance. When any movie opens with an over-the-top action sequence with explosions everywhere, you know it's all going to be about the effects.
About the only praise I can give X3 is that it was an awesome action movie with tons of fighting, explosions, and visual effects galore.
Everything else was a mess. The editing, the writing, the characters, the continuity from the previous movies, even the music. The only way this movie was connected to the previous two was the fact it had the same actors for certain roles. Nearly everyone was out of the character defined for them in X1 and X2. Too many bad lines, too many unintroduced new characters (Angel, Beast, Leech, etc), no development on the existing ones (Cyclops, Phoenix, Prof X, Magneto, Pyro), backwards re-writing on others (Rogue, Wolverine, Iceman, Mystique). Overall it felt like your typical brain-dead action flick. Not to say that's bad in itself, but when this is following X1 and X2, it just felt like an insult.
