OK, I changed mine to Line In in case an issue ever does pop up. I also changed record from "mic" to "what u hear" too. I could swear I changed it to that before and it was set back to mic when I looked. Sometimes I think Creative's software has a mind of its own.

Hah, indeed there is something like that. Just like you, I've noticed that mic setup is obviously the default setup, because despite changing it to auxiliarity or line-in it always returns to mic...
Hope my E-MU 0404USB improve the overall music experience, because I consider XFi to be very... poor source. There is a haunting feeling that something is missing... very annoying.
BTW, you also play a major role (sejarzo, too) in my decision to buy an EMU, so feel responsable.
