I plan to try x-can v3, but I heard after sometime I need to change tubes. Because their couldn't last very long. I want to ask a long will those tubes last?

There's no real answer. The tube life will depend on the circuit and the tubes used. 6DJ8's will have the shortest life, as a rule, while 6922's or 7308's will last a very long time in the right circuit.

From what I have read (and I forget where), the tubes in the X-can V3 (6922 Sylvanias, I believe) last a very, very long time- somewhere in between 5-10 years when left on 24 hours, I believe.

years.... the 6922 JAN philips are pretty much indestructible which is probably the main reason MF fit them in the V3. It's simple to fit other valves so don't worry about this..... when they pack in they pack in all you gotta do is roll in a couple of new ones...... piece of cake

Heh. When I got my X-Can v2 years ago, one of the JAN-Philips 6922's was already bad on arrival

OK, let's change that from "years" to "varies"

they can last anything from hours to years

hi pinkfloyd, which tubes do you think have sounded excellent to you in the mf v2/v3?

i've been looking at amperex, telefunken, siemens, very expensive..kinda a bit too expensive for me to roll thus would like your opinion thanks

Mullard e88cc sound nice but they are very expensive. A good cheap alternative is the Reflector 6N23P-EV triodes.... I got mine for £5.00 a pair but I believe the person who is selling them has hiked the price up fourfold now

i'm a little spoilt for choice right now

because i know where to get in NOS tubes in SG (1 USD to 1.7SGD)

1) E88CC Brimar UK Gold ($65 each)
2) E88CC Telefunken (most expensive of the lot at $210 per tube)
3) E88CC Siemens Gold Pins (2 for $100)
4) Mullard 7308 ($100)
5) E88CC Mullard CV2493 (1 for $90)
6) E88CC Mullard CV2492 (1 for $65)
7) E88CC Tesla ($29)
8) Amperex (used at 2 x $130)

wont have the budget to get all to roll much as i wish.. thus would like some experienced guidance before i take the plunge

oh.. and another noob question.. forgive me erm.. changing input tubes/output tubes which would have the most difference? i've been on electro-harmonix and i find it a little high sounding
