Wow, intense illusion! No, nothing will pop out at you, I promise... just follow the pink dot with your eyes for like a minute and then stare in the center... just keep staring in the center and all the pink dots disappear and the moving one turns green. it's quite crazy... Sorry if this is old to you, I just ran across it though...

Although, when I stopped trancing myself, I started seeing green everywhere for about a minute!

Don't do this and drive a car immediately afterwards.

Well, if you thought that was crazy, try this:

http://www.ritsumei.ac.jp/~akitaoka/rotsnake.gif

And if you thought your vision didn't fool you, try this:
http://www.michaelbach.de/ot/lum_adelson_check_shadow/

And if you are ready for something a little longer lasting, try this:
http://research.lumeta.com/ches/me/index.html

NB! If you are involved in a life-critical system operation monitoring, do not mess with the last test. The effects last more than after-image effects (up-to and over a full day).

Vision, it's a wonderful thing.

regards,
halcyon

PS Lots more fun at:

Those are pretty nifty. I've seen the first two before... I bet it's really hard for the artist to create that first picture... unless of coarse it was computer generated.

Just a simple color logic

Green is the inverse color.
The circled dots did not disappeared, simply overlapped with their remnants while you are more and more concentrating in the center point and the surrounding gets relatively blur.

(+1 ) + (-1) = 0
0 is the background color which is a 128,128,128 grey on RGB 256 scale.

Yeah, "illusion" was the wrong choice of word... oh well, it's still neat-o

Now imagine how easy it is for us to fool our ears.

Ford was trying to figure out what kind of sounds people liked cars to make, so they played many sounds matched with the images of cars and asked people to pick the sound they liked best. Most picked, say, car image 5. To control, they mixed the images and sounds up and tested again. People still picked car image 5 even though the sound was different. Yay for us.

really... are you able to find the other 2 posts?

I find it very comical when someone brings up a post that could have happened a long time ago, as if I was supposed to search for "illusion" and go through every thread to make sure that this wasn't posted before... haha. It's a message board! things come up more then once... get over it

Hmmm, not a bad little effect if I do say so myself, although there are certain illusions my eyes see right through, in particular those lame 3d posters. I never see crap in those, and it could be because my eyes have an imbalance- I am left eye dominant to the point that I may have to have my vision corrected to compensate. Plus, it'll give me an excuse to wear an eyepatch and call myself Solid Snake for a few weeks. Can't hurt, eh? Arrrr!
