I bought my first pair of "real" headphones in 2004 or so. They were Sony cd3000. At the time they were the most ridiculously priced headphones I had ever come across. I laughed at my dealer but then I tried them paired with a mini max headphone amp and I was smitten.
10 years on and it's amazing how things have blown up! I'm assuming it was the iPod/iPhone revolution that did it. It's certainly motivating my next purchase. I'm looking for something I can use with my iPhone or iPad as well as a DAC. The PSBs look interesting but so does everything else! I looked at the first server all pages of the headphone reviews and there seems to be hundreds of cans that people really like...
I'm looking for a good all round set of headphones. Comfort is really important. I was given a pair of v-moda cross fade LPs and in addition to being muddy, they get uncomfortable after a few hours. I'm hoping to find some closed headphones with realistic bass, an open sound, and natural tones. Guitars and voices are super important.
So, anything I should try? Anything I should avoid? Thanks!
