WoW. Aos PPA DAC!!!

You can try opamp rolling in the DAC section too, and diamond buffer should get rid of the slight metallic sound which can happen between HA3-5002 buffers and some Analog Devices opamps. A better power supply would probably help the sound too. So there's still a few things left to experiment with.

Just curious, is there room in a PACE for the amp, dac, battery board, and diamond buffers, or do you just have to pick three to make it fit in the case?

on a normal hammond case(the common one) the diamond buff wont fit, the transistors get in the way with the DAC.....unless you get a longer or taller hammond.

I believe that all of it can fit the standard enclosure, according to Larry, if some components are installed bent. I have a buffer now but not the amp so I can't tell for sure myself.

im talking about with tangents battery board ...

I was under the impression that it would fit normal case even with battery board. I guess Larry is the only person right now that can answer that question but that buffer does look pretty tall.

I went with the Larocco PPA Deluxe w/Diamond Buffer and AOS DAC. Can't wait for Santa to bring the little beggar!

What is very attractive is opamp rolling- one literally can almost completely customize the sound of the amp. I found putting the AD8610 in the l/r channels and the OPA627 in the ground channel to be a great combination for a very solid sound for all types of music.

well... reassuring... seems that i am no longer alone with my preference of the ad8610/opa627-combo in the ppa (even without diamond buffers)...

Are people mainly using the 627 in the ground position and 8610's in the other two positions? Or the other way around? *Can* you use the 8610 in the ground position? If I am wording that wrong I apologize, not sure on the technical jargon here. I went with 627's across the board as I tend to prefer a smoother (tube-ish if you will), even a hint darker presentation as I hate any sort of tenency to brightness or the like. I had a Emmeline XP-7 for a brief time and personally much preferred AD797's in it versus 8610's which I found were a bit too bright-ish for me. I'm willing to try an 8610('s) in my PPA, thus my questions.

yeah it's mainly 627 in the ground, 8610 in l/r. You can do a 8610 in ground, 627 in the other positions as well, but 627 on ground is my preference.

yes.. opa627 in ground, ad8610 in l/r. i have a little problem with this combo: when the phones are plugged in and the amp is playing a while, it is not possible to switch it on again after a short off-period (< 2') without unplugging the phones. has anybody similar experiences?
