Also, if you are going to etch it, you might want to bump up the clearances a bit between the ground plane and the traces (wires) and pads. I use 16mil generally for self-etched stuff (Edit/Design Rules/Clearance).
I would allow for something. Maybe a DO2S. If you put the vreg right at the edge, you can always mount one facing off the board, or even chassis mount the vreg.

I've found that it is easier to use the Isolate command for this (in Eagle). You can set each polygon/plane separately using this if you wish.
Is there any chance someone on this thread can help me with a small power supply? I'm looking to convert a 16V AC 1.5 A input to a 12V DC output. I've been suggested to run the AC through a rectifier --> switching regulator for 12.5-13v dc output --> 12v linear regulator to clean it up.
