I'm using the RS 180 headphones to watch movies (on my TV, not PC). I am wondering if getting a DAC would noticeably increase the sound quality coming from my headphones?
The headphones transmitter would be connected to a 3.5mm to RCA adapter which would then be connected to the DAC which would then be connected to the TV via toslink cable.
Ah, a lot of TVs don't have TOSLINK so I was making sure
So yes, I would think a DAC would be an improvement on your TV's DAC. There's probably not much reason to spend a lot, they're good headphones but don't go crazy
Most if not all of the DACs discussed here will not work with anything other than PCM. If there is no way to disable Dolby Digital etc. on your TV then you will only get noise. I know Fiio makes a DAC that will handle these formats.
