Would it make sense to pair the higher end Asgard with the Modi? I don't have the budget to go any higher than the Modi but I am able to go one tier above the Magni. I'm just wondering if the Modi would "degrade" the chain making the Asgard pointless. 
 
I'm currently using a Fiio E7. Would it be better to just get the Magni/Modi? And does anyone know how much of a step up that may be over my current E7?

with asgard plus modi you are all set for headphones up to $500. It will be a night and day upgrade from e7.

Any idea how they'd pair with Ultrasone Pro 900 specifically? I know the can be found for much less but they retail for around $550.

ultrasone don't need much amping to sound good i'm sure u'll be ok with them.

No but I've often heard that they do improve drastically as your other components improve.

I would say to save cash and get the Magni/Modi.
Those Ultrasone Pro 900s are only 38-Ohm, really do not think they need much amping.
Down the line you can always upgrade to the Asgard, like when you buy 300-Ohm headphones.
