This is not really a technical headphone question

I have ER-6 and would like to use them when I'm working out, but I'm concerned about the sweating inside my ears...(I don't really know if earcanals sweat, but...). Is it possible to have sweat "sneaking" into the canal on the earbuds and do serious damage...??

I know it's a strange question....

Don't know about sweat, but the occlusion and microphonic effects alone are likely to drive you crazy...

Hmmm, I'm thinking the filters would afford you some protection. Might need to be changed more often, you'll notice a drop off in volume when they clog.

Pondering whether ear canals sweat...

Ear canals don't sweat, I use my Ety's at the gym.
However you are more likely to change the tips probably a little more often if you do use them at the gym. I change mine every week.
After a while the mcrophonics are really not noticed, but you absolutely cannot run with them. It feels like you're beling chaced.

Every week?? Seems like at that rate you would have spent enough on filters to buy a new pair of etys after a year!

Not a problem with my ER4s. The foam tips do pick up a bit of sweat on occasion, but they can be removed and rinsed. I haven't changed the filters in 3 years of use. I checked them under a microscope the other day, and still clean. Microphonics aren't a problem if I clip the cable properly.

The Ety's are absolutely useless when running. It sounds like a stethescope hitting your chest!

For weight workouts they're fine. But I don't want to wear and tear these $250 babies so I use a pair of $20 Sony foldable earphones for exercise.

I didn't like the Koss models as they fit poorly, with the exception of the Portapros.

I tried mine at the gym for the first time last night. The microphonics weren't too bad when I was using one of the lower impact cardio machines. It was a joy not to hear the babble from the people that make a workout into a social occasion. I did get a few stares, people wondering what was in the traveler bag. I will probably stay with the Koss either the KSC-50s or the Porta Pros
