No noise from ps vane 2a3 from myself, kr audio 2a3 I found a channel noisy till about 30 hours, tak 2a3 quiet as night but expensive. Tak or ps I’d take tak, but ps is a nice old school tubey sound. I kept the vane for when tak burns out
I have them, they are very good new production tubes. I didn’t have noise issues, and found them a bit bright at first, but they settled down nicely.
That said I use kr 2a3s as the wa33 is primarily for the abyss. You may want to check out one of the DNA threads as the 2a3 ACME globes are popular With those amps.
Cheers everyone, I just ordered them directly from Woo. Love the look of them, and from what everyone else has mentioned on the DNA thread - they do add a little top end sparkle and tighten the bass which is exactly what I want. The Electro Harmonix are very good but the bass is a tad bloated. With the Utopia and LCD-3 pre fazor... it becomes too much.
It's sad the WA33 Elite is coming to an end, but I'm happy about my potential re-sale value. I wonder why they are discontinuing it. It's one of the best amps you can buy. Why stop it? It doesn't make a lot of sense. I guess a lot of stuff at Woo doesn't make a lot of sense, but why discontinue something like this? Woo is terrible at interfacing with customers, but maybe they can shed some light.

Pretty sure they view the new WA24 as its replacement. Better performing (?) and lower price. I was pretty impressed with the WA24 sonically when I heard it at CanJam, but I don't have any experience with the WA33 Elite to compare. It was crazy how cool the WA24 stays, though--you can touch the tubes, no problem.
The WA33 EE is like the pinnacle of amps. Why are they discontinuing it for a WA24? I can't really think of a business reason why they are stopping the Elite Edition. Maybe they'll release a WA44 or something. But the Elite Edition has been well loved by many people, and it costs the most of any of their amps. Aren't they getting some good return on that? Why stop it? I don't understand. I guess they really want to hype up their unbalanced WA24. It makes no sense.
- It might be cheaper to produce
- profit margin might be higher
- better availability of tubes they can sell (Wa33 is very limited on driver upgrades and their own stock is dry)
OR they actually think that it
surpases the Wa33EE while keeping a similar sound signature.
Also aren't the Wa234 mono Blocks their most expensive offering?
Regardless, the Wa33EE remains one of the best amplifiers on the market
(PS: Aesthetically the Wa33 is so much better imo)
I seriously doubt the WA24 surpasses the WA33 Elite in sound quality. If anything the WA24 doesn’t have enough voltage gain for demanding headphones like the Susvara OG on a 2V RCA inputs. Like the WA23, you would need more than 4V RMS to give the Susvara OG to sound pretty loud and impactful
