My friend has that tube, if I recall that it is the same tube known as Winged C? He has a DarkVoice and it is vastly different, but that tube does make it sound a hell of a lot better.

I decide to do the swap now, am very curious as to what went wrong the first time so trying a different power tube this time, and being more careful by allowing more warm up time of 30 min.

So the divers worked this time ?

Basically it is the same as the C wing but a lower price.

Not yet, literally had put them as I was posting. Giving it some more time before plugging in the headphones. Going to make a bite to eat for dinner, then see how they are coming along.

Well, I just bought a Tung Sol 5998. Hopefully the buzz around it it holds true.

Now what drivers pair with it well?
Nice find! on eBay, or from a reputable online vendor?
I’m no expert on driver tubes, but bought my Amperex PQ Holland from Brent Jessee and he was solid in assisting.

From the previous owner of the amp.
Ahh, I think I asked a question on that sale post, the tubes included were not clear in the original post. So he was holding back a 5998, smart move. The guy I bought mine from did the same thing, left me with crappy tubes.

I got a decent power tube and two sets of nice drivers. I would have done the same thing knowing these are not easy to come by. Was told this has the domino plate as suppose to be harder to come by.
