Wolfson DAC in standalone DAC?

i don't think so, because the 540C only has one DAC chip.

One can produce quite a few nifty designs with more than one dac chip - e.g. you can use 'em in a differential configuration in order to achieve a higher snr. Also, if you let two or more dac chips do exactly the same job, you can average out quantisation errors and thus improve linearity and reduce distortion.
