I bought a pair of fake Bose IE off ebay (I know it was fake, just wanted to give these to a friend

) Anyways, I was curious to see how they sound. Hooked it up and immediately I was pretty surprised with the sound quality. The bass was pretty tight and wasn't overwhelming and the highs were pitchy. So I thought... hmm if this fake is pretty good the real should be better. I asked my friend to try his real Bose IE....OMG I was so disappointed... The real IE sounded so dull. It was so bassy. The highs were not pitchy and everything just sounds so bassy!! I listened to it for about 3 mins before my head started hurting from the heavy bass :p. The quality between the two IEs were pretty much identical. This comes to show that Bose is all about marketing and nothing about SQ or product quality.

Sooo, the fake IE was better than the REAL one? Not surprised, the mainland Chinese are known for their reverse engineering antics, and sometimes that results in a better product than the original. Of course, for a much lower price (hope you didn't pay anywhere close to full price for those fake IEs).

I actually saw the auction for the earphones with a "HITTIME" watermarking on it so I searched that on ebay for the member but it seems like the HITTIME member doesn't sell on ebay anymore. So, I looked it up on google and found the same seller on iOffer and DHgate and asked the seller for one pair shipped to the US. The seller agreed on $20 so I gave them a try.

Yesterday i went to a local audio store for some cable, saw this customer testing out the Bose IEM, then this salesman offered him this Sennheiser CX300. After a minute, he said Bose is obviously better....

---> That's my reaction, but there's more to come. Salesman offered him Shure se-210, after few minutes, he said the same thing, preferred the Bose sound. I really wonder what music he was listening to and if he had found a good seal with Senn or Shure?

So today i went out to find some speaker wires. Went to Bestbuy and i was chatting with the speaker specialist, who other salesmen refer him as. Out of curiousity, i asked what he recommended for speakers, he went straight to Bose 5.1, so i thought he wanted to sell me some overprice items. I asked about what so good about Bose, he said Bose is the best you will get in this industry....again

I went on and asked him about B&W, M&D etc... He said they are OKAY, but Bose is still the best, and he said he owned the Bose system himself and spent big money on silver cable and he would never put 'crap' cable to go with the hi-end Bose.

And ya those are my stories for the past few days.

I just did an hr of pink noise on the real pair of Bose IE to see if the bass would calm down a bit. The bass is a bit calmer now but it still too boomy. When playing piano music, it is absolutely near pitch-less... it's very very flat. The fakes on the other hand, I can tell different pitches for each piano key. Anyways these fakes were definitely worth the $20. They even come a pretty nice leather-like hard carrying case and cable winder :)

Hah...$266 for 20 "Bose IE"...awesome.

Hmm...I would spend $20 on some fakes. I need some new beaters. My KSC75's have bit the dust with an intermittent clipping of one of the drivers. I would send them into Koss, but I'm scared it'd be a waste of time and money due to Kramer modding them. I know the driver wasn't touched, but the fact that it was touched, has me a little weary.

Koss takes anything back. I sent in a set with no pads, kramer modded and had a missing cable because my friend tried to recable them and fried them. So I took them from him and sent them in.

$7 later, new set of ksc75s! Woohoo!

And yes, the Bose IEMs are horrible. I would say that they are even worse than ibuds...

When I was looking for high quality headphones I borrowed my friend's in ear triports since every one I know had them and he said they sounded amazing. My $20 JVCs sounded better! The bass was so muddy you could barely hear vocals!
