I need a great pair of wireless earplugs, no normal headphones. I know radio is EEEEW among hifi enthusiasts, but it doesn't have to be perfect ... just good/okay. At home I'm quite happy with my Astro A-50 headsets for gaming for instance ... they transmit far .. nearly my whole apartment without any change in audio quality ... no added hiss, no interruptions etc, they'd be good if it was an earphone.

Solution could be a complete earphone solution if that exists or a small, lightweight receiver/transmitter pair I can connect my fine UE TF10's to.

Ideas? :)

Not quite sure what you;re asking for here, but I'll take a shot. If you're looking for some wireless in-ear headphones, then there are an overwhelming number of brands to choose from. Pretty much every major audio company makes at least one. Jaybird are specialists in wireless sets for sport, though they are still (apparently) good for home use. Source is a wireless radio (?), but I don;t think that would be a problem.

tell us what sound you're looking for :)

Yes ... wireless earplugs. The smaller/mobile, the better.  I like in ears because of the shut off effect of surround noise and because they're unobtrusive in looks. Your Jaybird example goes to the right direction. Technically, the emphasis is on clear transmission within about 10 meters from the transmitter. No crackling, noise, hiss or whatever introduced by the radio. I have this effect with my Astro A-50 gaming headsset ... it's kleernet technology seems to work fairly well .. i can walk around the appartment and sound doesn't change anywhere, remains exactly the same and reacts digital: Either total fall out or perfect, no in between hiss like a normal radio. Use will be inhouse ... appartment, desk etc ... just to not have cables. Doesn't have to be some all weather superlight jogging thing ... just unobtrusive and comfortable.

Is bluetooth the way to go there?

As for sound ... hard to describe I guess :) I listen to everything. I like precise, I like alive. Not necessarily neutral, as I also love trance/electronica and want them to be clear, defined. I like a bit of bass, but am no bass enthusiast, certainly not when it becomes a soup of undefined bassy noise. But trance/techno needs a bit of oomph in the classical drops they have, so it can't be a thin sounding device.

I hope that described it somewhat sensibly?

Yes, you certainly did

Given as how I don't own any of the mentioned buds, I can't comment on their sound. However, many manufacturers provide some impressions on their site.
Also, there WILL be at least one person on Head-Fi who owns any given pair of earphones

http://www.head-fi.org/products/category/wireless -this is a good place to look up wireless anything. It's mostly cans, but there are some good bluetooth earphones in there too.

One last distinction: Ear'plugs' don't play music. They are used as hearing protection, like these. You're looking for ear'phones,' or IEMs as they are usually called around these parts.

Based on my experience (mostly Sony), bluetooth does not have the ability to give you signal throughout a whole apartment. I've never seen a product that can do 10 metres, the reality is probably more like 3m.

Yes ... sadly most wireless ones are normal headphones :frowning2: Even things that seemed to be great, like sleek audios custom IEMs with Kleer tech are no longer there :frowning2: I like things like Kleer ... I try to avoid Bluetooth ... I had nothing but crappy experience with it (also with mice, phone connections etc).
