This doesn't seem to be an option, but I'll check again. The only options seem to be provide proof of delivery or issue a refund.

You don't need to tell me add full insurance this time -- I've learned that lesson either way. But I'd welcome hearing about your experiences!

The insurance is also a crapshoot and inconsistent. I know they don't cover damages. You'll have to read very carefully the wording on "lost".

You raise a good point, @Armaegis - if something goes lost between Customs and the shipment company, would shipping insurance even cover it? Might be more likely with UPS or FedEx than Canada Post which needs to hand off to USPS?

Thankfully they cancelled their claim once the parcel was delivered yesterday. I'll probably stick to selling my other gear on CAM from now on, even if we tend to get lower offers there.

I checked my messages and there were already six messages sent out trying to scam money from people with a fake listing or responding to WTB ads. Scary stuff. Remember to enable two-factor authentication people!

So when shall we start planning the next meet? Maybe late April?

Yeah, 2FA is really important, folks. Even in a password attack, 2FA should create a big enough difficulty barrier that they will just move on to an easier target and leave you alone.

Yikes, I have always had pretty lax security on these sorts of forums since my thought was always 'who wants to hack my account to chat on the Winnipeg thread on my behalf'. I forget how these places are also spaces for trade and financial activity. Will upgrade my security. Thanks for the PSA.

Both my account here and on the other place were compromised at around the same time, and looking through the messages the guy already had pictures of gear he was claiming to sell that he sent to potential victims, plus one fake listing. I'm hoping I caught all of them in time before they sent money. Easily 10k worth of scammy messages went out all at once.

Authenticator is better than email or SMS. A hardware token such as a Yubikey is best.

I'm using Authenticator here because it was required for selling on Classifieds. How did some of you guys not have it set up?
