Smart aleck moment: "Good luck to everyone" only works when a winner is not guaranteed.  Since at least SOMEONE is guaranteed to win, not "everyone" needs luck - the event will pass no matter what.  In fact, wishing good luck to everyone places everyone in competition with each other... which we already are.  Only the people you want to win need "luck."  So, good luck to me!

(I think what people really mean is they will be happy for whomever wins and hold no grudge against those people.  Which is a nice statement of good will towards our virtual fellow contestants - way to go Head-Fi!)
