Will this amp really make that much of a difference?

Save your money, you won't get $159 worth of improved sound with the MS-1's.Their inpedence is so low (32ohm) they don't really need an amp. In a few months you'll be considering new/better phones. Keep the money for 225's or 325i's. Then think about an amp. Welcome to Head-Fi, this is an amazing world-wide family of audiphiles. With time you will reach your audio goal, you just don't know what that is yet.

Also, incase the OP misunderstands, a higher ohm does not mean better headphones.

In my experience the Total Bithead is useful only as a volume control. The MS 1s will not benefit much, if at all from using it. This is based on my experience with a Total Bithead plus SR 60 and SR 80.
