I currently use a pair of K550s. I use them to listen to music from my PC, that is connected via HDMI to a NR1008 Onkyo receiver.
I recently started doing a lot more gaming with the headphones, so I decided that I'm not happy with the K550s. I'm not getting a very good sound stage or imaging from them. Plus also the bass is lacking. So I decided to purchase the HE-400. Now my question is, with how I will be using the HE-400s. Will I benefit from getting a dedicated amp/dac? I'm mainly hoping that my current set up is good. I'm not really sure that I want to spend much more if the difference is not going to be night and day.
Someone already mentioned before that the K550s aren't paired well with my receiver. So I'm not sure if it's the same with the HE-400s.
I appreciate any options you guys might have.
