.

That graph really makes me want to try the K601.

The first 100 hours it's hard, but then you start to see the light. I mean, compare to the dark veiled.

They are 701's, both stock....AND ALO-modded with 18g Jena cbl. They have at least 1500 hrs on them. Keep trying though, you're bound to come up with a reason why I should like them one of these years.

There are many reasons...resolution/transparent/smooth/low level detail/airy/clean sounds, with no artificial noise, and the perfect axis in the 3D sound stage, with a great reproduction of depth in the soundstage...

A perfect example of why everyone's ears are different. Enjoy your 701's.

Dear AKG,
You need to wake up! Your competitors Sennheiser, Grado, Ultrasone, ... all have announced and even released new top-end headphones, while there have been no news from you. There are clearly a market out there to be filled, so step up to it. Reviving the legendary K1000, or better come up with a successor.

Best regards,
xxx

I like my akg k701s. they still need more burn in time. the problem is where can I actually listen to a bunch a different headphones before buying them? I can't really make a judgment about phones with i listening to them. are there headphone stores? any in atlanta?

Why should they? The other new boutique headphones likely won't replace the K701 in the studio. AKG, at least to me, has made it clear they are more focused on the professional artists, musicians and studio work than for consumers and audiophiles who still believe it's worth it to spend more money on your cables than the headphones.

But I don't doubt they will release a worthy K701/K702 replacement once the R&D is finished.
