Everywhere for sale the K550's are ~$290, where as the Q701's are ~$240, I own the Q701's and am looking for a closed headphone as well, but paying more for the K550's then the Q701's seems wrong when on the AKG site the Q701's suggested retail price is double that of the k550.

Lastly will they come down eventually like the q701's did?

Dunno but there is a lot more metal work on the K550 and the pads look and feel more expensive on the K550.

Flipside is that the Q701 is made in Austria and the K550 is made in China - you'd think that would balance
things out in terms of production cost.

Which site did you go? AKG.com has q701 for 399 and k550 for 299. Considering that q701 has been out for quite some time and k550 is their newest product, it is understandable

I was on the UK site as it came up first even though I am from Canada, but regardless they are still listed for more and they cost less./
