Who still has the Sony SA5000?

There are 4  small phillip screws under the earpads You can push the earpads out of the way to get to them.

Just be careful when opening them up, they are VERY fragile.

No just push the earpads from the center out to expose  each screw,do the same when putting the screws back in.

Unfortunately that is the price for those pads. There no other sources other than sony because demand for these headphones was so small. If you want to save a lot of money, I'd suggest tossing the SA3000 pads on them. I think they are far more comfortable than the SA5000 pads, although they may end up having less bass.

Use some thin fabric or stocking to cover the opening, and then apply the SA3k pads, you might even find it an improvement. Enjoy!
