I wonder what bands have presently or had in the past the best 'duelling' guitarists?
Two bands come immediately to mind:
K. K. Downing & Glenn Tipton (Judas Priest)
Dave Murray & Adrian Smith (Iron Maiden)
They added Janick Gers in the 1990s so they've got three lead guitarists!!
Lynyrd Skynyrd also had three lead guitarists:
Allen Collins & Gary Rossington & Steve Gaines
Metallica: Kirk Hammett & James Hetfield
The Allman Brothers Band: Duane Allman & Dickey Betts
The Rolling Stones: Keith Richard & Ron Wood
Megadeth: Dave Mustaine & Marty Friedman
Kiss: Ace Frehley & Paul Stanley
Scorpions: Rudolf Schenker & Uli Jon Roth
Motorhead: Wurzel & Phil Campbell (Live at Brixton'87)
AC/DC: Angus & Malcom Young
Aerosmith: Joe Perry & Brad Whitford
Not all of them are pure 'duelling' guitarists because, for instance,
Malcolm Yound (AC/DC) played rhythmic guitar.
How about Metallica and other bands?
There are many other bands featuring 'duelling' gitarists.
Post their names here. Who are your favourite ones? Who are the best?
Do they belong to the greatest rock guitarist of all time:
Guitar Gods - Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, RSV, Eddie Van Halen, Steve Vai, etc.
I think that K. K. Downing & Glenn Tipton of Judas Priest are the greatest 'duelling' guitarists of all time.
See you on the 'duelling' gitarists
