I think the Millett Hybrid does a nice job with the HF-1. They're inexpensive, and easy to find or build yourself.
If you're a DIY type, you might want to pick up Issue 16 of Vacuum Tube Valley. In it are plans by John Dickman for an all-tube headphone amp he built specifically for the Grado SR-80.
I found his design interesting enough to order the parts- I got the output transformers, tubes, caps, and resistors in the mail today. The power trnsformer is on the way, as well as a few more parts. I intend to take a whack at it over the long weekend.
Before I get too much into my project, take a look at it if you're interested. Total cost of the parts was about $150. If it works as advertised, I think it'd be a real bargain.
If you do a seach here, Mapletree Ear + Purist HD gets highly recommended with Grado cans. Then again, Woo3, with right tubes and high input gain from decent source is pretty good too. I am using Curcio CD12V Tube DAC with my Woo3 and it's wonderful. It almost sounds like my PinkFloyd modded X-CAN V2 with hint of more tube warmth.
