I have these and they sound great with the graham slee solo with PSU1.
Which cans in the same price range would provide a contrasting sound to the HD650s?

I would say 325i, K701, AT AD900, and possibly DT880 have opposite (or very different) sound signature from HD650... or at least that's what I thought.

Thanks for your reply. I was looking at the 325is.

Someone already beat me to it. I was going to suggest the RS-1 or SR-325i. I think those two are the exact opposite of the HD650's sound signature.

325i, RS1, K701 yep they all contrast very nicely.

I have seen Sennheiser dubbed as the "anti-grado" before. That sounds like a pretty good constast to me! I am not sure what model, though. From what I hear, the 325 and the rs-1 are cans that don't seem to be a disappointment.

RS-1 goes very well with the Solo SRG. My friend liked the combination so much that he actually sold off his HD650.

Interesting that people are recommending the HF2 when no one has actually heard it yet.

Grado RS-1 or HF-2, AKG K-501, and the Beyerdynamic DT880.

Go for the HF-2 if at all possible. You'll be able to get any of the rest whenever you want.
