First of all I have to say that my english is not so good and I don't know so much about headphones.

I'm looking for a headphone that is very good for metal, especially for melodic death metal.
My favorite bands are In Flames, Metallica, Bullet Mor My Valentine Five Finger Death Punch and Linkin Park. I listen to electronic metal (Blue Stahli).I also like a bit more softer music like Red Hot Chili Peppers, John Mayer and Coldplay, but the metal music is much more important.

I have found these headphones and they seem to be very good. I don't care so much about the design. More about the sound quality, comfort and durability.

DENON AH-D2000

DENON AH-D1100

Ultrasone HFi 780

Future Sonics Atrio m5

All of them costs like 200$ except Denon AH-D2000. Its a little bit more expensive.

Okay, so what's the big difference between these headphones?
Do the Future Sonics have better audio than the others? I mean the others are closed and bigger and it's the same price for almost all headphones. Then I think that the in-ear headphones would be more specialised on the sound because its not so big and so on, or am I completely wrong?
I really appreciate if you comment this and help me to choose.

None of those for metal.

Get yourself a decent amp and buy yourself the most underrated headphone on the planet and be away from here.

OK I don´t think our friend from England was trying to be rude, just very enthusiastic about the Sony sa-5000.....

I love metal, been listening to it for 30 years, so I have to agree that the SA-5000 is extremely good for metal, very fast, detailed and aggressive. Now I would also recommend the grado lineup and especially the sr225i, a very exciting and fun set of cans for metal listening (although comfort may be an issue for some). Both are open headphones, so there is sound leakage going out and you will be able to hear your surroundings.

If you want a closed phone I find the sony mdr-7506 or V6 (same cans), to be very enjoyable for metal as well as some electronic stuff, you get more bass but not overwhelming.

everyone´s taste is different, so you will never find true consensus on any headphone, but this is a good start. cheers

I prefer Earpads and Closed headpones. In ear headphones works for me too

Sony mdr-7506 seems to be good, but is there any better headphone around 200$ that you recommend?
Is there anyone of the headphones that you think are good? I mean the ones I suggested.

Yeah I've heard about the grados. I think that the headphones are really good, but I'm not into the fast and agressive metal. More melodic metal like In Flames. I've heard that the Grados aren't so durable, is that right?

Yeah this is a very good start

I like my Sennheiser HD25-1 for metal. I listen primarily to bands like Antestor, Mortification, Crimson Moonlight, Venia, Paramaecium, Renascent, etc which range from doom to black metal.

Well I'm not listening to fast metal like black metal, but do you think that the headphones are good for like Metallica and In Flames music?
Or is it more specialised for black and doom metal?

I'd suggest looking into the AKG k240 Studio. For metal they're very good and VERY cheap. They're only $99 and I almost like them as much as my HD-600.
They're light and comfortable and have no clamping force at all. It's also one of the few more expensive AKG headphones that have a decent amount of bass.

I think any Denon would probably be terrible for metal...

Of course any Grado would work fine, but they're not comfortable for me.

To me, the k240 Studio is the best headphone deal ever. The build quality is also really good, despite being nearly all plastic.

They are also semi-open, which seems not as common as it should be for cheap headphones.

I have the Ultrasone Pro750 and they have great bass kick and sound great with heavy music. The sound is very neutral but with good imaging. The 780's probably sound similar.

this ultrasone is a great choice too.... I friend of mine has it and In flames sounds heavenly (or hellishly

) good!

Okey thanks!

The Ultrasone sounds like it's the best choice. I don't want an amp for the headphone, because I want to listen everywhere like on the subway for example.

So I want a headphone which is portable and doesn't need an amp to sound very good.

Is the Ultrasone HFI 780 good for me?
