I did, of course. So there is no SQ difference between them?

As long as it's well built, I doubt you are able to hear any difference.

If I go to the nearest electronic shop and buy one (which is not gold-plated) for 1 EUR, that's good enough?

My friend, gold only has cosmetic value here, it has nothing to do with the SQ.
I once bought a converter @ 0.5$ and still works fine until today.

Very likely. Unless your local air lets metal corrode as soon as they are unpacked, you will be fine with a regular one.

Build quality does matter. I had a quarter inch/mini adapter (until I got my Grado one) that had the left channel cut off all the time. It was gold plated, and all the gold plating in the world couldn't help keep that hunk of trash from heading into my garbage pail.

It's true, gold plating doesn't improve sound quality, it simply prevents corrosion that, in the future, may get in the way of a proper connection.
