Hi guys,

I've decided to upgrade my portable audio system, a iPod Classic 160 GB (Latest Gen) and my HifiMan Re0 Limited Edition. They sounds quite good, but now I'm searching an AMP + LOD or a DAC excellent in vocals, more "extended" with bass and most of all more balanced, neutral and with a great soundstage. I listen most of all vocal music, jazz, blues, classical and pop. Re0 are goergeous earphones under 100$ I think, but at the same time I believe that highs are a little bit "frizzy" and "tiring". I want to improve the sound quality of the iPod, could you give me advices if it's better to buy a good AMP, an AMP + LOD or better to buy a DAC?

I've made a list:

- RSA SR-71A (AMP)
- Headstage Arrow 12HE 4G (AMP)
- TTVJ Slim Portable (AMP)
- ALO Rx Mk2 (AMP)
- ALO audio "The Continental" (AMP)
- Cypher Labs AlgoRhythm Solo (DAC)
- Fostex HP-P1 (AMP + DAC)
- Cryo Dock (LOD)

Are these good choices? What's the best solution considering the type of music I listen? Thanks :)

Great! For you the Ryan Samuels would be a good choice considering the type of music I listen? And in which order do I have to upgrade my "system"? Amp or headphones first? :)

Thanks!

Ray Samuel Aduio SR-71A should be fine with what you listen to. What's your budget on IEM's?

Ryan Samuels ? I knew Ray had a daughter, but there was never any mention of a 'Ryan'.

You dont need any of that stuff  - you need a good source and a good pair of IEMs - save your money for beer.

If you are sticking to the Ipod platform, the only way to improve your music is to use either the CLAS Solo + amp or the Fostex Hp-P1.  You can upgrade your headphone but if your source is no good, no headphone can make beautiful music out of poor quality digital signal.

Or if you can wait for another month or so, you can get the Ibasso DX100.  Those are your best bet now.

Beer may make you forget about the crappy music for a little while, but after that is gone, you are back to the same place facing the same music.

LOL, thanks guys and sorry for mistakes :D

The iPod Classic is a "must" because of storage, so i need something external to improve the sound quality. I don't want to change my source. Do you think it's better buying the Fostex or a good pair of headphones first?
