I currently have the Hifiman Sundara, but am not at all satisfied with them when it comes to the genres I listen to because of a lack of clarity during busy parts (lots of instruments at once, and loud) - and I find it a tiny bit bass lacking. Not a bass head, but it could really be a bit more present for my tastes. Usually listen to rock and metal. Also I'm a little treble sensitive. Sundara without EQ at louder volumes was painful sometimes, due to peaky lower treble moments.

Do you prefer a warmer or colder sound with these genres? This is primarily what I listen to as well, but I haven't exceeded the 400 dollar price point. Too broke lol.

LCD-2C are killer and not particularly difficult to amp. But I wouldn't run them off a laptop or soundcard.
