I run on the treadmill in the gym and music is absolutely essential - unless I'm super hyper that day.
For running (and sometimes lifting) I use the Sony EX-71 (pseudo-canal phones). These are nearly ideal as they isolate well enough, but not so well that I can't hear the fire alarm go out.
The major plus factor is the Sony's short cord length (~ 2 feet) really helps makes music listening unobstructive while working out. I always wonder why hi-end IEMs don't come with options for shorter cord length for people on the move.

I use the Senn PX200 but I have a Audio Technica ES5 on order. The PX200s fit well, they stay on your head and are comfortable, but sound is lacking, and the pleather ear pads wear away fairly quickly. Hoping the ES5 will address both issues.
tried running in my e4's. the sound of running is annoying and i dont really like to run however, rollerblading! i can do that for hours and its low impact so no noise from my feet hitting the ground. get some blades
*edit* oh yeah i forgot, dont skate on the street or around cars i donot recommend it!, but on a jogging trail its super!
