What s a good combo to own ?

buy what many acclaim as one of the best headphones: GS1000 & thats it & be done with.

buy the complimentary combo of HD600 + RS1 (both giving differerent flavours, different cans for different moods and music genre.)

not sure about the HD600 and GS1000 pairing, the differece in SQ of the two might be too big that the HD600 will end up gathering dust.

Musical preference: pop music (Kraftwerk, New Order, Timberlake, Danity Kane) , female and male vocals (Jacintha, Patricia Barber, Enya, Sara Brightman, Michael Gold, Aaron Neville, Dianna Krall, Katherine Jenkins), some light classic, instrumental music (Earl Klugh) , New Age, light jazz. Anything but hard rock.

I'd say, go for the BT 320s, u can use ur own headphones with the adapter. I have it myself, and i use it as a remote.

If you have more $$$ ,the Jabra BT8010 is even better.

Basically, if ur gonna buy bluetooth stereo, Jabra is the way to go

Uhhh...wrong thread maybe?

Have you considered the AKG K-501? It excels with these. Beyerdynamic DT880, as well. The HD-600 will do great with them if properly amped, but aren't quite as magical as the K-501 in my book.

To me, the RS-1 is the correct choice for the rock/pop, though.

What he said. I have the MS-2 and K501 (and the HD580+HD600 grills; they sit in my closet) but I'm probably going to have to go to the RS-1 or MS-Pro sometime.

If it was my choice, I'd go for the GS1000 alone. The sound stage, refinement in resolution, punchy bass and the comfort make the GS1000 more versatile. However, if you need the typical Grado forward midrange, then you have to think it over.

First of all since amps have not been mentioned, Grados and audio technicas are the most amp friendly cans because of their low and flat impedance curve. I have yet to hear the gs1000s but if I were to choose between either a combo of cans or a single can that will do it all, I would choose the single all rounder that will give you a fairly accurate response combined with a decent soundstage and a fast transient response that will show what your front end source can do.

Actually, I already chose a can that does the above plus is versatile enough to sound good in practically any system because of its sensitivity and impedance. The audio technica AD2000. Grados can sound better to some people with their music because of its impact and liveliness but to me it presents its sound on a flat wall without depth. Senns could be really sweet and inviting with some music but are very boring and unbalanced for a lot of studio mixed rock and pop music. I haven't heard akg's k701 or denons d5000 yet or the ultimate allrounder, the sony r10s but the audio technicas are the first headphone I've had in a long time that can make me enjoy all my music and stop thinking audio.

I'm closest to Unlce Erik but I haven't heard the K501's. However - GS1000 for sure, and if you afford another pair - DT880 Pro '05. I have both the HD600's and the DT880's at home right now (Senns borrowed to compare from my friend) and it looks like the DT880 Pro's are higher class in build quality and especially the sound. Sorry, but these HD600's sound like being deffective when ABed with the Beyers.

To answer your original question though, I would rather get the rs1 and the hd600 even though I haven't heard the rs1s enough to know if it was good or not. After all, they are supposed to be the main cans that define the sound signature of each brand. If you do find out that you like one for all of your music more than the other, you will have the peace of mind that you have the headphone that satisfies your cravings.

If you get just the gs1000s and don't like it, you might not know where to go next not knowing more flavors of different headphone brands

Unless i get to hear a GS1000, its kinda hard to spend $1000 on a can and go blindly.
However, as is, i like the Grado 125s, i dont find fault in it. Its sounding good. Am sure the GS1000 or the RS1s with similar voicing should be a huge upgrade from the SR125. So i have a feeling that i would like both the Grado camp and the Senn camp. It would be good to own both. Different flavours that would compliment each other.

However the only qualms i have withthe SR125 is that i get dizzy after a while listening to it. Gets uncomfortable. Someone did say the wood grados are more comfort.

same comfort because they come with the same bowl pads. The 325i's and ms2i's are even less comfy because of their weight. the gs1ks might be more comfortable though
