Which has better line-out? iPod Nano vs Sansa Fuze

So the only way to properly utilize the LO is to put a DC filter in the dock ourselves (or rely on the DC filter on the amp, if it has one). The good news is that way we can avoid any cheap SMD caps in the signal path since there isn't any. In a sense, it is a semi-iMod dock w/o actually needed to modify the internal circuit (though I doubt Fuze will sound as good as an iMod).

To answer your question, yes and yes - you are getting a real line-out, but you will need to DIY a LOD or ask someone to build one for you.

OK. thank you again.
Now i decided to buy a Griffin Power Dock for Sansa 9211
will that work?

Yes, it will, but the SMD caps used in the Griffin dock is really sub-par sounding. I am not sure you'll find it better sounding than headphone-out.

Thanks for all of your efforts and answers, ClieOS.

My main point, was that neither unit comes with a built-in line-out port, standard, like the H120/140 DAP and others have.

It is possible to tap into one using alternate means, but they do not come with one from the factory.

I understand. Unfortunately for us, most DAP makers these days really care very less about line-out but more about fancy features that have no concern on sound quality.

I'm not sure you can get much more from the line out than you can from the headphone jack. SansaFix only said there might be a better signal to noise ratio with the line out and it's debatable if you can actually hear the difference between the two.... You might think you hear a difference and you might convince yourself that there is a difference, but regardless of the caps you use, you can't get out more than is actually there.

I personally think there's a noticeable difference between the Fuze's line out and the headphone out. Whether or not it's a big difference is up to your ears, but I notice personal favorable differences in the line out, especially when amping the signal.

In any case, I don't think the quality of the line out should be the deciding factor between purchasing an iPod Nano or the Sansa Fuze. There are plenty of other factors that can be taken into consideration. (Price, headphone out, firmware, file support, aftermarket accessories/support, memory limits, etc)

I bought one from ofey_s on ebay, and it really made my Sansa fuze shine! Krmathis and I tried some different portable mp3 players, CD player and portable amplifiers i have. Sansa Fuze with ofey_s LOD, RSA Tomahawk and Sennheiser HD650 is a combination we really liked! It is a pity you can`t buy this cable on a regular basis!
