well seeing as its a gift for a teen who im assuming isnt into earphones as much as we are i think the cx300's will be fine. they provide plenty and i mean plenty of bass in terms of quantity and that seems to be the deciding factor in what makes earphones "good" for most people i know around that age

to the OP, if you buy these beware as there are lots and lots of counterfeits of the cx300

Hmmm, if the CX300's are muddy sounding, I'll get something else. I think I need something with cleaner bass, decent mids and acceptable highs.

I settled on the JVC FX66's. I just ordered them for a pretty low price on Ebay.
