Greetings -
I am looking into purchasing a pair of DT-770's (250OHM). The only previous experience I have had with full size headphones are the Senn.HD-280's
and those seemed to clamp pretty hard below my ear lobe. I think the the DT-770's are just what I'm looking for but if they clamp more than the HD-280's,
I might have to look elsewhere. Any thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Will you be plugging them into your Classic?  To bring out their best the DT770 (250) do like a little amp love...

I found the DT 770 Premium (one weekend) and DT 990 Premium (2.5 years) to be very comfortable.

The Professional models of the '770 and '990 have greater clamping force. There is a 770/880/990 thread where you'll find discussion about the relative comfort of the Pros and Premiums. Personally, I've never worn a Pro model.

The 770s are one of the most comfortable headphones you can get and compared to other closed cans I've tried they don't cause much sweatiness or hot ears at all. Unless your ambient temperature is super high of course.

Which company did you buy from? Im looking to buy as well. I saw one for 169.95 from a company with 6000 reviews vs 170.00 with 30,000 reviews. I might go for the latter to feel a bit more safe

I have the HD-280 and the DT-770 Pro LE.  DT-770 is more comfortable and sounds better.  I don't find the HD-280 to be uncomfortable, but I do have a small head.  So, DT770=better comfort and sound. HD-280=better seal.

Have them both, except my DT 770's are the 80-ohm version. Perhaps my large head is an anomaly I don’t have issues with my HD280’s as far as comfort goes. I will say this; the 770’s are probably the most comfortable headphones that I have worn for long sessions, between 3-6 hours at a time. Something about the velour pads just makes them nice and inviting whenever I am thinking of which can to put on. No over-clamping issues with either for me. I used to be in radio and still do voice over work professionally, because of this I have a preference for closed cans, so they both serve that purpose well. I do that on my free time and during the week I teach high school media tech, where sound design and video editing are my class preps. I use both sets of cans and a few others from time to time, but I love the 770’s and 280’s for different reasons. Both great closed cans that work for what I need. Happy listening!
