In terms of bass? I've read (in these forums) about them already, but i'm still not sure what the jip is. I have came to the conclusion that the HD 419's are not that bad, but the S4i's are better and "punchier" bass? Anyone have expericance with any of theses phones or advice? thanks in advance.

I own the HD419, and have heard the S4 on some occasions. To me, the HD419 has a smooth,laid back and very inoffensive sound,without any sibilance, It has light , punchy bass,without being muddy, and it handles tracks pretty well IMO. No big flaw on this one. 
 
The S4 to me sounds pretty clear,but the sound is very congested IMO, probably due to the small bore size on the tip. There are many IEMs that shame the S4, even at a lower price range.. such as the E30,PL50 and MEElectronics M6.
