I borrowed a K701 and a little Dot II++ for a month, I used them together and I also used my aria with the k701.
Don't go for the Little Dot, it's perfect for power purposes but the k701 doesn't really shine with it.
On the other end, the Aria. Very detailed, incredible soundstage, the only drawback can be the lack of bass response if you're looking for a warm sound. It does pretty good with my rs1 too, and you can find one used for 300$.

well. i have used my LD2++ with all of my headphones including the K701 and i think the only one that disappointed was the HD650. all the others, the ++ handled with no problem. the RS1 was a great combo with it as well.

i am now selling my LD2++ for way under $300 (see my sig). may be worth checking out.
