I've decided I want to buy a benchmark dac1. Preferably the silver face.
But nobody has one in stock! This is a Birthday present to myself and I want
it asap. Any suggestions on who to call?

Yep, called them. 2-3 weeks! I guess these are popular and they can't keep up with demand.

Yep, tried audio advisor and sweetwater, and several other places.
I did find a silver faced one in Canada, but, I live in the US
and didn't want to deal with that.
I decided a black one would be just fine. Ordered aparently
the last one that Audio Advisor had. Shipping tommorow

Most places had none at all - any color. According to benchmark
the next batch is due in there in 2-3 weeks. I don't mind black or
silver, but wasn't sure about having the rack mounting tabs - I decided
I didn't care, I'm going to listen to it not look at it. Maybe I should
build a little rack for it
Now I just have to hope it suits my audio tastes, I think it will. . .

I'm not a huge fan of silver components. My ideal DAC1 would be black without the wings... but I've had no problem enjoying my winged version for almost a year! The finish on the black faceplate really is very nice...

And should you not find the DAC1 to your liking, Audio Advisor is very good about honoring their 30 day return with a prompt refund. But I doubt you'll need to use it!
