Where do you download DAC driver and get a user manual for X5

Just one more question. If I make these changes will it effect my laptop when using other sources? For example, my wife teaches a class where she uses youTube videos so I use the mini hdmi port on my laptop to connect laptop to television in order to view youtube videos on television. Should I still be able to do this without any complications?

Well Gary,

Does the laptop switch audio output automatically to the HDMI output in that case? Or are you familiar with switching the computer's audio output device manually via the control panel? Installing the X5 DAC would add another audio device to your computer, which you need to switch to manually in order to enjoy music through the X5 as DAC, and (I suppose) you would also switch manually to the HDMI audio output when connecting the laptop to the television.

The picture output would in any case be unaffected.

Best regards,
Joe

Yes, I am familiar with the audio settings in the control panel. Sometimes the setting would change automatically and sometimes it would not, it has been working properly until I started to use Dragonfly, a usb dac. So I would manually select Dragonfly as my speakers in order for it to work. But when I wanted to use the tv I would select the tv as the audio device and I never could get the sound to work on the tv.

But you are saying in theory I should have no problem as long as I am aware I may have to manually select the device I want to use for audio in the control panel? Please correct me if I am wrong.

Halleluiah!!!!!!!! I used the tutorial to disable the signature feature and the driver downloaded and works perfectly. I did have to change the Fiio X5 as my audio speakers so this kind of answered my previous question, the tv should just show up as another device and I would simply change that to my default device when I want my computer video and audio to go to the tv.

And by the way, I listened to a couple of songs through the X5 as a DAC and there was no skipping! With the Dragonfly there was skipping with every song.

Thank you thank you thank you!!
