Dave and I played a fast game of email table tennis this past weekend as I went from MKIII to IV and finally to SE when a friend at the very last moment offered to pay $100 for the upgrade to SE. Dave wasn't sure if my IV hadn't already shipped (a problem Dr. Zinn's clients never need worry about) but he pulled the rabbit out of the hat and I got me my (free to me) SE upgrade afterall. I never knew I could be so tense and excited over 1/4' Neutrik and CMC RCA connectors and tubes I've even heard of, but for those 24 hrs they were the most important things in the world to me. Now, I'm not so sure.

yeah, im wondering if the SE sounds "$100 better" ... plus my wife wouldnt be happy if i got the SE...

The SE upgrade provides temporary solace until the inevitable next iteration and scratches that niggling "If only..." itch.
