What were the first headphones or IEMs that made an impression and made you become an audiophile or just a headphone freak??
In my case, I bought the Sony MDR-V6s without knowing anything about them.
I was very impressed by them. I owned them for about 2 years and made the stupid move to lend them to a friend. I never saw them again!!

From there on I became obsessed with audio in terms of quality and gear.
Now, 20 years later I'm posting about it.

Care to share when you lost your Ear virginity??

It was a Kenwood player, in a sunny day. What goal it was.

If this weren't a headphone forum, your title would certainly raise a few eyebrows.

about 3 years ago, i bought a pair of senn hd580 to hear footsteps better in counter strike. after playing CS for a few hours, i listened to some music on my computer.
it was definitely the "holy crap" moment of my life.
then i had another moment like that when i got my first amp. =D

I had a set of Sextetts to grow up with. They were always there for me, until I went astray and bought a cheap walkman. I got the one without auto reverse, and my sister got the next one up. Discovered later that mine sounded better.

Anyway, my "wow" moment was going from listening to Metallica's black album on cassette to hearing Enter Sandman on my hand me down Technics receiver with the Sextetts and not wanting the song, specifically the solo, to end because it was so much "deeper" than the tape version..
