It's pretty close battle between lossy formats, lossless formats and optical media.

For me there's only one format and it's FLAC.

I buy it on CD but rarely listen to it off the disc. Flac for that. I don't often do portable but when it I do for now it's an old MD. Optimally it would be a DAP that supports FLAC playback.
