Blue Note album covers were the coolest - simple and colorful. I highly recommend the Blue Note album cover art book vol.1. I got one for my brother for christmas, as he is an aspiring graphic artist.

Eric Dolphy " Out to lunch' " is my fav.

Not one of my favorites (never even owned it), but I grew up looking at it...and thinking "wrong" thoughts...

cajunchrist -- I really like that cover. Reminds me of a dream I never had.

One that I got that I doesn't digitize too well: Monokrom (self-titled). Very black-on-black, one texture on another.

I like the cover on Coldplay's The Blue Room E.P.
It's a paper cover, so it doesn't have that annoying plastic glossy look..

Some that always stick in my mind are:

Michelle Shocked - Short Sharp Shocked
This is a picture of the Michelle with a riot cop with his arm round ther throat. A picture that was captured by a newspaper reporter at the time.

Pure Prairie League - Bustin' Out
The cartoon picture of a dusty old cowboy in his battered hat being thrown out of a saloon.

Grateful Dead - The one with Skull and the Roses on it.
Classic picture!

Metropolis - Original Sountrack
A gatefold LP with gorgeous cover picture showing the robot in full colour.

The Byrds - Sweethearts of the Rodeo
Another great piece of cover art.



So many good LP's and so many good covers. God how I miss not being able to get new vinyl.
