I was quite suprised to read the comments on Youtube re the Monster Headphones, and I read that alot of users on youtube reckoned the headphones looked good but when it came to quality they were poor, is this true ?
Also I have found myself that Monster Headphones (like their cables) to be over priced.
Well I'm afraid I found their quality to be quite poor too. I had two pairs of Miles Davis Tribute and one set of Turbine Pro Copper IEM's all have to be sent back for either bad channel imbalances or a totally dead channel. Oh, and on my first pair of MD's, a metal sleeve at the base of the cable strain relief totally came off and was sliding freely up and down the cable. Nothing a little dab of krazy glue didn't fix though. But still, not encouraging, much as I loved the sound of the MD's.

Both the Tours and Turbines were a let down. IMHO I like bass that BOOMS and rattles my brains. I just picked up some JAMZ and so far...I am still not getting that sound I am looking for
I have not had a problem with the Monsters, although my lowly V-Moda Vibes have a far better cord. I really take care of my stuff, I wear if for whatever I have to do, then I carefully stow it away in it's case for future use. I have heard of people washing their $200.00+ IEM's, running with them and dropping them on the concrete, and then stepping on them by mistake, letting the stupid cat swipe the earphones and then nibble on them like a dead mouse, ect. Uh, no wonder these things don't last! I have not had any of my IEM's prematurely die. IEM's by nature are DELICATE and something that you stick in your ear needs extra care. I also use different monitors to spread out the usage, kinda like having multiple shoes will make them ALL last longer. As expensive as some of the high-end earphones are, I am a little peturbed that the manufacturer would see fit to equip them with those cheap cords! My cheapy V-Moda cord is far better than my $200.00+ IEM cord!

Are the IE8 that good when it comes to earth-shaking bass? I have been burning through pairs of IEMs looking for a pair like that. I have read a lot of reviews about the IE8 and wouldn't mind buying a pair, but the price tag is what is killing me
RaZrReD, the IE8s have so much bass with the adjustment port wide open that you'll feel the inside of your brains rattling around.
You might remember that Maxell add picture of the guy sitting in front of his speakers with his hair flying back. That's the impression I get from these. Unfortunately, it's not my preferred sound signature, so I don't use them much. Literally, I had a few vertigo problems three or four years ago, and these things can stimulate it slightly, like going on a ride at an amusement park. As a result, I never listen to them with the bass port wide open.
With respect to the quality of the MTPG and MTPC, outside of an off center diaphragm with my first MTPG which was promptly replaced, I've not had any complaints in the five months I've had them. I've carried them in their thin soft cases during international trips, etc., without issue. Here's hoping they won't have problems tomorrow . . . . Currently, I'm enjoying a Nox Arcana album through the MTPCs to set the mood for Halloween. They're perfect for this type of music.
