The fate this Earth that we rely on for existence. A few issues come to mind...
 
- the impending demise of tuna as a food source
- the future mining of strategic metals on the mid-Pacific ocean floor, the processing of which will dump millions of tons of silt in the currents of the upper levels of the ocean
- With the melting of the arctic icecap, and the soon to be exploitation of its mineral wealth including its sizable petroleum reserves--which points to continued shortsighted reliance on fossil fuels.
- alternate energy technology seems to create almost equally destructive consequences in terms of the collection of raw materials, and the manufacturing process with its concomitant issues of air pollution and mass waste disposal
